Hello from Aiko at isfor WA, Oxford!

The other day, I ran a little hosomaki (thin sushi roll) workshop for a group of children. They chose their own fillings — tuna, cucumber and avocado.

Some of them were a bit nervous at first about rolling sushi with a makisu (bamboo mat), but by the end they were confidently making lots of beautiful rolls.

They told me their homemade hosomaki tasted delicious, and many said they wanted to teach their families how to make them too.

Everyone did brilliantly, and we ended up with a whole tray of perfectly rolled sushi!
