Dear Japanese Food Lovers,
Hello from Aiko at isfor WA, Oxford!
As the days get colder, what do you crave?
For me, it’s always a warm bowl of soup. Of course, there’s the classic miso soup or a sumashi-jiru (Japanese clear soup), but Japanese home cooking has so much more to offer. Think hearty kenchin-jiru (vegetable and tofu soup) or soothing kakitama-jiru (egg drop soup)—all comforting, nourishing, and full of umami.
Perfect for keeping both body and soul warm this season!
Yesterday at home, we made kakitama-jiru (Japanese egg drop soup) with plenty of dashi.
It’s such a comforting flavour that warms you from the inside out.
We’ll also be sharing a variety of delicious Japanese soups on Isfor WA. Stay tuned!
Happy Cooking!
Aiko
