Dear Japanese Food Lovers,
Hello from Aiko at isfor WA, Oxford!
How was your half term break? Feel like a long time ago?
We took to the waters of Oxford in classic punts. It was harder to steer than we expected – I nearly fell in more than once!
Have you ever tried a bento? These beautifully packed Japanese lunch boxes are more than just a meal – they’re a perfect balance of nutrition and creativity. Whether it’s for a school lunch, office break, or picnic in the park, a bento makes lunchtime feel special.
Over the May half-term, I made the Japanese lunch boxes for my daughter’s activity club. Inside? Yaki udon (noodles), Inari sushi, omurice, or Fried rice with Dashi-maki tamago (Japanese omelette), Teriyaki tuna, Marinated salmon, syumai, or Grilled chicken with a few veggies 🍱 .
It’s a small way to send a bit of love with her when I can’t be there.
